W Hotels Amsterdam - PUBLIC AREAS
W Hotels Worldwide, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide debuted in the Netherlands with W Amsterdam. Located in the epicenter of Amsterdam’s vibrant social scene, the 238-room hotel spans two iconic buildings, one of which used to house the former Telephone Exchange and the other was previously home to KAS Bank. W Amsterdam was designed by Office Winhow and Baranowitz Kronenberg Architects, who collaborated – amongst others – with IVANKA to refresh the historic buildings with contemporary features by their storied past.
IVANKA was involved and worked in close connection with the interior architects from the beginning on the development of the most unique surface designs and highly customized solutions for guest rooms and public spaces. The Exchange building’s public area features sculpturous tactility of hexagonal 3D tiles on entire walls as results of manufacturing with the highest customization.
