At Milan Design week IVANKA, the leading designer concrete brand, presents The Water of Life: a revolutionary project developed to collect rain and turn it into the highest quality drinking water, filtered through a special bioconcrete system. A real innovation that opens to global perspective that markedly transcends the current practice of sustainable development.

IVANKA welcomes Milan Design week visitors at the Temporary Museum for New Design to show its socially and environmentally responsible latest innovation.

With a decade long experience of manufacturing and installing designer concrete in the hospitality, leisure, retail and other commercial, public and residential sectors - IVANKA is proud to present The Water of Life project. A new complex technology that makes use of ‘bioconcrete’ rooftops, surfaces and cisterns developed to collect rain and turning it into the highest quality drinking water. Bioconcrete - with its filtering function, compatible influence on water and its pH neutral orientation, distinguishes this new water management system from the traditional ways of collecting rainwater.

The set of IVANKA’s design week exhibition at Superstudio Più gardens is RAINHOUSE, a 1:1 model of the real house built in the Balaton Uplands National Park for a 6-month pilot test. At RAINHOUSE visitors will preview and taste the first harvested pure rainwater collection now bottled with design. Here IVANKA will also display the future harvesting rainwater stations, foreseeing the possible impact of this technology on worldwide water management both in economical, social and environmental fields.

IVANKA’s The Water of Life is a visionary project that matches perfectly the sustainable feed the planet motto of upcoming 2015 Milan World Expo. As Katalin and Andras Ivanka comment “rain is the initial, the most important and purest, renewable source of the freshwater cycle – a much better choice than any other source such as lakes, rivers or mineral waters from underground. The technology we developed represents a high ethical value as it turns rain into the highest quality drinking water in a pure and natural way of processing. It provides access to affordable clean water for small and big scale users, from families to big companies, leaving the smallest possible ecological footprint in the process”.

About IVANKA

IVANKA is a manufacturing unit and design studio, two-in-one, but these units also work independently from each other. The factory work is based on the versatile nature of CONCRETE – the main material chosen for the creative expression through discovering unexplored attributes.

The Water of Life project shows an excellent example of IVANKA’s holistic, 360-degree approach to customers and its services process, which includes the unique design and the special manufacturing technology. Using their own high-performance designer concrete, the company makes special surfaces, building panels, furniture and even wearables. Concrete Genezis – the first ready to wear capsule collection using concrete as a ‘primary shell’ made a triumphant debut at Paris Fashion Week’s Tranoi Show.

International professional network

Among their clients you will find: Vodafone, MGM Las Vegas, Liberty department store in London, Levi’s, Yves Saint Laurent and G-Star Raw. IVANKA was privileged to work with such international professionals as the Marcel Wanders Studio while creating the interior of Andaz by Hyatt in Amsterdam, and with Tom Dixon on the interior of Eclectic Restaurant in Paris. Andras and Katalin Ivanka, founders of IVANKA were invited to join, and became members of the Advisory Board of Design Terminal, the official governmental institution for the development of creative industries in Hungary.
